Delaware County is comprised of four local school districts, Big Walnut Local Schools, Buckeye Valley Local Schools, Delaware City Schools, and Olentangy Local Schools. Big Walnut Local Schools
Big Walnut Local Schools is comprised of Big Walnut Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Hylen Souders Elementary, Big Walnut Middle, and Big Walnut High School. It serves over 3,600 students across the greater Galena and Sunbury communities, including towns such as Porter, kingston, Trenton, Harlem, Genoa, and Berkshire.
Programs offered by the district include Internships, Career-Technical Education Programs, Gifted Programs, sports, athletic summer camps, band, choir, and more. Additionally, the district partners with the Delaware Area Career Center to provide even more outstanding student opportunities.
Buckeye Valley Local Schools
Buckeye Valley Local Schools is comprised of Buckeye Valley E. Elementary, Buckeye Valley W. Elementary, Buckeye Valley Middle, and Buckeye Valley High. The district has received numerous performance awards and accolades—in fact, Buckeye Valley High is currently ranked at the #74 Best High School in Ohio and #1616 Best High School in America by USNews & World Report—placing it in the top 6% nationwide!
Programs and opportunities offered by the district include various athletic and sports programs, summer camps, Schoolology, PowerSchool, and much more.
Delaware City Schools
Delaware City Schools is comprised of five elementary schools, Dempsey Middle, Willis Intermediate, and Hayes High, as well as the Technology Center at Dempsey. The district serves over 5,700 students with 340 certified staff and 181 classified staff.
Programs offered by the district include Gifted and Enrichment Services, Advanced Placement courses, virtual high school, Battle of the Books, Artist-in-the-Schools programs, and many more. It partners with the Delaware YMCA, the Columbus College of Art & Design, The Arts Castle, and Ohio Wesleyan University to provide additional opportunities and educational experiences.
Olentangy Local Schools
Olentangy Local Schools is comprised of 14 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, Olentangy Orange High, Olentangy High, and Olentangy Liberty High. It serves students across 95 square miles throughout Orange Townships, Berkshire Township, Berlin Township, Concord Township, Genoa Township, Liberty Township, Delaware Township, and the cities of Delaware, Columbus, Westerville, and Powell.
The district is ranked the #10 Best School District in Ohio (#62 in America!) by Niche.com, and all of its schools have received a grade of A+. Additionally, Olentangy High School is ranked the #10 Best High School in Ohio and #312 in America by USNews & World Report, Olentangy Liberty is ranked at #8 and #272, and Orange High sits at #18 and #485.
