A Historical Overview of Dublin
Settlers date back to roughly 1802 and began to take shape with the arrival of the Sells family. Purchasing 400 acres on the west bank of the Scioto Rover, by 1833 the community had begun to grow and there was one local store and a few mills. Dublin stayed a relatively small community, only having 680 residents in 1970, until Interstate 270 was constructed.
With the introduction of the interstate, business headquarters and golf associations claimed Dublin, which attracted many more citizens. By 1987, with a population of 5,000 residents, Dublin was declared an official city.
